LXer: My Top Five Favorite Distributions for 2010

Published at LXer:

Ms. Carla Schroder shared a list of her "bestest distros" recently, so I thought I might follow suit. She called hers "not-usual" and looking at her list, I'd say my choices are probably a little more usual. In any case, here are my top five favorite Linux distributions for 2010, in no real order.

How come Ubuntu 10.04 and 10.10 aren't on that list? And how come KDE is the default on pretty much everything but Mint (which still has a KDE-like look) on that list? I think some serious work needs to be done to improve it.

Of course, I still like Mint regardless.

You are aware of the fact that this is his personal list of distros?
And if he likes other distros more than Ubuntu, and KDE more than Gnome, what is your problem with that?

I still like Mint! So what's your problem?!

Mint is what I would actually recommend to pure newbies instead of Ubuntu, as it is easier for people who migrate from Windows (Of course, Ubuntu is easier for Mac users) due to its familiar look and feel and to the fact that it comes with many codecs, Flash, Java, and other goodies on the Live CD that are installed with the OS (Of course, Ubuntu also has an option to install that software in Ubiquity that is installed during apt-setup).

Well, since Slackware isn't on the list, we can file that blog under Epic Fail......

@Hangdog42

Yes, I agree with this too (although I didn't in the past) as Slackware is pretty easy to use as well -- if you're used to the CLI.
