These are step by step instructions for how to install Odoo on Ubuntu 14.04. This seems to be the most widely used distribution for Odoo users. This will get you up and running in short order as it will only take about 30 minutes (depending on your Internet connection). Odoo is a continuation of the popular OpenERP open source ERP solution. It continues to gain popularity and with version 8 has expanded into a CMS as well. The backend uses PostgreSQL and it is written in Python.
