The culture of the project's core group has become steadily more unhealthy, more inward-looking, more insistent on narrow "free software" ideological purity, and more disconnected from the technical and evangelical challenges that must be met to make Linux a world-changing success that liberates a majority of computer users.

I'm sure ESR will fit smoothly into Ubuntu's touchy-feely environment, and that the
Ubuntu Code of Conduct will be his second nature.
ESR can't miss an opportunity to display his zealous conversion to the position that Linux needs to include proprietary elements. I disagree with him vigorously on that position, and admire the stand RedHat has taken there. I learned Linux on RedHat6 - Fedora4, and still have a place for them in my heart. That said, rpm is a mess and has been for years, and it is getting worse.
I decided on a whim, one day to install Debian on an extra machine I had, and it only took about a week to realize that I was using the wrong distro (for me).
