YaST: x-series [solved]

Code:
checking for X... configure: error: Can't find X includes. Please check your installation and add the correct paths!
I get this error, when I try to ./configure amarok-1.1.1. I need some devel packages.
For this I should install packages from the x-series in YaST2.

How do I find and enable them in Yast2 ? or is there another easy way to install the latest editions of programs in SUSE 9.2 ?

Thanks in advance
Jens

Try installing the xorg development packages (xorg-devel).

search for xorg (or x11) in yast and then install the development packages.

I have tryed both but with no succes. Maybe my YaST setup is wrong..... Problem solved

I had only set my DVD as a Software Source Media.
I added a FTP site and YaST found all the development packages I needed.

Thanks for your help reddazz

Thank you everybody. Today is my first day using Suse 9.2 Pro ever (or Linux for that matter), and I was humbled by the

checking for X... configure: error: Can't find X includes.

error I was getting when running ./configure.

Adding a source to YaST for an FTP site, installing the x11-devel package got me past that error. But now I'm getting this:

checking for libz... configure: error: not found.
Possibly configure picks up an outdated version
installed by XFree86. Remove it from your system.

Check your installation and look into config.log

I haven't rebooted / restarted X / done anything since installing the x11-devel package. I tried checking config.log, but it's all greek to me

This is what my path looks like:

/home/(useridhere)/bin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/usr/X11R6/bin:/bin:/usr/X11R6/include:/opt/kde3/bin:/usr/games:/opt/gnome/bin:/opt/kde3/bin:/usr/lib/jvm/jre/bin

Any ideas? Thank you so much everyone.

SUSE 92. is using XOrg instead of XFree86.
AFAIK, there is no x11-devel, only xfree86 or xorg.
So you may have installed the wrong devel package. Install xorg-devel instead.
Also make sure that the FTP source points to the correct version of SUSE.
