I can mount my cd/dvd through O.O.,K3b and the rest of my programs. The problem is there is no icon in KDE.My computer icon lists hard drive partitions and floppy but no cd. In Conquer is the same under the media icon.
It seems to be a common thing with newer distros due to the use of dbus and hal. I have noticed that on Mandriva 2007 and FC6, the CD or DVD icon does not appear unless you insert a disc into your optical drive.
maybe you have to adjust your desktop settings.
anywa IMHO its good that theres no icon if theres no disk in drive. why should you use drive if theres no disc?
