Weird looking desktop

Yesterday I struggled to get my dual display on my Acer Travel Mate to work.

Today I when I turned it back on, only the secondary output was working. After mucking about, it finally worked, set all the settings I recall editing back to normal. However whenever I login (as root or other user) in KDE, this happens:

I suspect it is Plasma that is mucking up - any way of deleting a config to reset its settings?

Also certain windows, such as the window for 'finding a file to upload to photobucket' is wider then the screen. However my mouse cursor is stopping at the edge of the screen, so it is not working in 'extended desktop mode'

Thanks

EDIT: This only happens on KDE... GNOME is fine.

An interesting problem, thanks for the follow up. I've seen similar issues and that seems to be a quick and dirty way to fix it.

I think it is mostly down to ill ATI drivers... I have a very badly supported card.

I am having issues with nvidia drivers and finally had to install the latest from nvidia to fix "freezing" issues.
