Hello!

I am corrently running SusePro9.1 on my desktop.
It's working great, but i want to upgrade to 9.3.
Is there anybody hwo has tried upgrading from 9.1 to 9.3.
Can you please tell me if it will work, or if it's better to do a new install?

I haven't tried an upgrade myself, but I've seen on www.suseforums.net that some people are having problems upgrading 9.2 to 9.3, so 9.1 to 9.3 might be problematic too. I think the answer is that it would be best to do a fresh installation if you can.

I've never trusted upgrading any OS from a previous version to a new version. There's just something in me that can't get over the idea that stuff from the old version is left behind. I attribute this to early upgrades from Windows 3.11 to Windows 95 - it wasn't clean and almost always had problems.

I always feel better when I just back up my data and reinstall the OS from scratch. It may mean a few hours of updates and getting my old software back on, but I always feel better about the results. I did the same when moving from 9.2 to 9.3 just today. I just formatted the partitions and installed fresh. Sure, I have to reconfigure Evolution and a few other things, but I am much happier with the results.
