I now decided to install the new OS version Leap 15.2 with all the extra work that comes with it. I will declare this
thread as solved.
Here two comments that might be useful to others at the same level of in-expertice.

(1) The attempt to upgrade Leap 15.0 (That was the version installed on the laptop that did not boot) from
CD failed utterly. I guess the damage was just to big.
(2) I am a bit dubious about the usefulness of the repair tool proposed by "colorpurple21859". It does an excellent
job creating an analysis report. But let it try to repair the system may not have been a good idea. It was
written for Ubuntu I a used it on openSUSE.

It was meant to be be used to provide more information on you system setup, not to be used to repair, as you see the repair part of it doesn't always work. I'll make a note to mention not to run the repair suggested by the cd, only the boot-info part of the cd.
