Susie 10.2 install on WD 120 usb hardrive?

I have a Susie 10.2 DVD, a good recently reinstalled Windows XP and A Western Digital 120 GB USB external hardrive, which I have reformatted to NTFS and successfully copied the DVD. I changed the boot order in BIOS, so that the WD external hardrive boots before the internal XP hardrive.

On rebooting I get the message "NTLDR is missing" and can proceed no further. So

(1) Can I in principle install 10.2 as a dual boot alternative, independent of and isolated from Windows XP?

(2) If so, can I proceed simply and roughly as before, the simpler the better --- I am approx. Pc literate, but not Linux so. Explicit instructions would be appreciated.

Best regards, Michael Caola

If your XP boots I would try and do a normal install of Suse, to do this you need to set your bios to boot cd first, the ide 0 second and let the USB be third. Install the Suse dvd and reboot the computer and during the install you will get the option of where you want to install and the partitions Suse recommends and at this point you may change the sizes and the drive.
