Unhappy SuSE newbie help please

i just installed SuSE on my machine, i have some experience with debian and mandrkake, and i'm trying to find the equivalent to apt-get or urpmi on SuSE, so i found out that i should do a (please correct me if i'm wrong)

Code:
yast2 -i PACKAGE
but each time i do it i get the same error:

Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: No protocol specified

and i really haven't seen it before (i guess a new distro is always intimidating), so if someone can help me out with this...

Im still new to SUSE also but I do know that you can go to START > System > Control Center and use YaST2 as a GUI. I added some sources so I could update all my software. I dont know if this is what you want but I hope this link helps you!

Suse uses redhat package management, so the command should be:

rpm -i <package>.rpm

But you have to download the correct package for your version of Suse. These are easy to find with google.

An easier way is to just right-click on the package and select 'Install with Yast'

Hope this helps
