Question SuSE 11.2 with HP-Compaq 6510b - wifi problems

Hi there! When I installed opensuse 11.2 on my notebook i found my broadcomm 4312 wlan card in the hardware list, but it's not working. I probed different ways to solve the problem. I found these methods: http://en.opensuse.org/Broadcom_BCM43xx_Wireless
I tested them all.

I'm afraid this is not enough, because the wlan led is not lighting. Every extra button works well such as volume buttons, but the wlan button does not working, so i can't switch on the wlan.

What's wrong? Is anybody here who has same notebook model?

Thanks for your answers. Regards.

hi

went thru some trouble too to get the broadcom WL to work on my DeLL Inspiron but eventually got around it.

you need to install the following packages:
- b43-firmware - Firmware files for Broadcom bcm43xx series based PCI/PCMCIA cards
- b43-fwcutter - Tool for extracting firmware from newer Broadcom WLAN drivers
- broadcom-wl - Wireless driver for Broadcom 43xx series of chips
- broadcom-wl-kmp-desktop - Wireless driver for Broadcom 43xx series of chips

webpin may help you find a repository, but later two came from http://download.opensuse.org/reposit.../openSUSE_11.2
when typing "broadcom" in YaST2's search, those are the only packages that should be installed.
restart
/!\ go into YaST2 > Network Devices > Network Settings & Edit the BMC43 device (that is, open it, click on OK/Next until YaST2 goes thru its "refresh" cycle. need to do that every time i switch the connection (thus either the ethernet or the BCM43).

hth
