Suse 10.1 LCD stopped showing native 1280

I've been running my Prestigio P178 LCD happily in 1280x1024 resolution in Suse 9.3 and 10.0 but cannot get more than 1024x768 in 10.1.

Sax lets me choose LCD and 1280x1024 resolution but when I run the test it still only comes up in 1024x768, and so does X even if I save the setting non-tested. Could it be that the monitor refuses to acknowledge that it is a 1280x1024 display.

The graphics is included on the Shuttle motherboard and seems to be identifying itself as K8M800 in hardware info.

I've also tried booting my old 10.0 image and that still comes up with 1280x1024. Even more disturbing is it that I copied xorg.conf from my 10.0 install to my 10.1 install and it still doesn't produce 1280x1024. So that should imply that it is not an X issue (nor a Sax issue) or am I completely lost?

Post should perhaps have been to hardware.

Thanks in advance.

Boot in, start up a console then type su (enter root password)

type init 3

when at command line, enter sax2 click configure, configure the resolution / LCD you want.

save, then when back at command line type init 5

Tried it, but same problem. In Sax I can set 1280x1024, but it does not come up in that resolution when I do the test already within Sax.

I now (also in runlevel 3) did hwinfo --monitor and that said that the monitor is only 1024x768, which it isn't and the sync ranges were off too (compared to what the user manual says).

Any further tips?
