Stupid beagle, work darn u(bangs head against wall pathetically)
well I was here once before http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...ghlight=beagle and I hoped things would have improved and they have. Beagle will now index my files but fails to index anything else anybody have any pointers. I would most like to get it to index firefox web pages and get the google backend working.
I have installed the firefox plugin
I have grabbed a google key and done code: export GOOGLE_WEB_API_KEY="mykey"
restarted beagled
beagle 0.1.1-0 is installed on Suse 10.0 recently upgraded from 9.3
code: beagle-index-info
gives

Thanks to all and I assure you I have thoroughly searched this forum and googled for hours although I could have missed something
Not sure about the google key, but the firefox plugin may not work unless you are running Deer Park and 0.1.2 (or whatever with the dots.. latest version is what I'm getting at) of Beagle.
Try putting a text file in your home directory and launch best. If it doesn't find after 20 minutes then you definitely have a problem.
Is there a way in Opensuse to upgrade your version to latest? I don't have it installed but one would hope that there would be a method of upgrading via YOU or Yast or Youknowwhatever..

Seen it. (It is now dated beagle no longer requires dbus unless you use Galago and Suse 10 comes with inotify in its kernel.that is unless I am looking at the wrong solution)
I have also I believe seen previous threads were you recommended their knowledgebase. So I believe I have been thru all that b4.
Can you post the link Xav in case I have missed it?

I have a pretty decent list in my media sources in yast as per sticky
There are too many smilies in this post I am really not that happy heh,heh Doh!
If it's finding your text file then your problem isn't beagle per se. Deer Park is version 1.5 of Firefox. But looking at the website it will work with Firefox 1.0 but it does require the latest beagle:

It works with both Firefox 1.0 and 1.5. It requires Beagle 0.1.2 or newer.
I'm sure your beagle is fine -- it's just not indexing the type of data you want it to.

Yea he is a good dog(pets his beagle). I just want to sic him on all my Windows friends who are using google desktop.
I guess I could try 0.1.2, incidentally was that the beagle web site or the firefox/mozilla website that said I need 0.1.2?
Damn I killed my beagle with the new version beagle-0.1.2-6.i586.rpm from one of suse's ftp It required a few mono packages to resolve the dependecies but after yast shows everyhting is good I get
** (/usr/lib/beagle/BeagleDaemon.exe:7936): WARNING **: The following assembly referenced from /usr/lib/beagle/B eagleDaemon.exe could not be loaded:

Uhh jeeze I tried to restore beagle to the original 1.1 that was working and came with suse 10.0 and I am still getting the same error. After extensive googling I am not sure if I should try to get some help from the beagle people or the mono package people? Can anybody who is a little more linux literate actually make out the problem/debug info in my previous post.
It is asking for gtk-sharp 2.8.0 and after looking around in various rpm repositories it appears that number doesnt exist for any of the distros?? I wonder if it means gtk-sharp2?? Anyways the new beagle 1.2 required new Mono packages to be installed and I wonder if this problem I am experiencing is a path problem as yast2 shows that all the dependencies are satisfied?
i tried everything in the book and it seemed I was just going around in circles in terms of dependencies. Anyways I restored a back up I had then reinstalled suse 10.0 and I am back to beagle 0.1.1 after all the updating. I spent a good portion of my life trying to get this to work. I wish I could have all that time back. Still if I had got it working I think it would have been worth. Very powerful tool but I guess it is only for the more linux savy who can fix the problems that arise.
