Does anyone know what file gets run to start the SUSE installation? Any file(s) on the first CD? Any file equivalent to the loadlin.exe, which works for Red hat?
The Loadlin.exe fails for Suse, I have already tried that.
If your computer doesn't boot from cd, then you can produce the boot disks and boot from them. The images and instructions are on the first CD, or on the DVD. There is more than one disk that you need to make.
I am able to boot from my CD, but I am trying to do Network installation, so I have copied all the CD contents on my Windows Server.
Here is what I do for Red Hat Network installation, which works perfectly:
I created a file called install.bat. In this file I run the loadlin.exe that I have copied from the first Red Hat CD, which starts the installation program. Now for Suse I tried to do the same thing, but running loadlin.exe doesn't work. It halts the system. That is why I was wondering what file needs to be run instead for Suse.
I believe the the boot disks have a menu which allows you to select a network installation. Also, there is also a way to boot via network using an installation server. The instructions for doing this are in the SuSE Administration manual. It should be on the first install disk as a PDF file. I would read that through as well as any README files. This may allow you to install without any boot disk by selecting the "boot from Network" option, just before the post screen comes up. You will need to read up on this anyway, in case I am wrong.
