standby for Suse 9.2 on a laptop

Is it possible to make "suspend to Ram" work on a laptop (Toshiba Satellite A30-554)? When I try it, my computer switches off fast, but then it doesn´t switch on untill I unplug the power cable and remove the battery.

"Suspend to disk" works almost as slow as normal booting of the system. Are there maybe other ways to put a computer with Suse 9.2 on standy, so that I won´t have to wait 5 min. till it boots?

Hi,

Looks like you are new to linux.

The suspend to RAM in SuSE default is an old version of suspend. It is very likely not to work. Still the old suspend to disk should not take more than 2 minutes to come back.

Alternatively if you need suspend to RAM try out www.suspend2.net This needs patching the kernel; recompiling kernel - good knowledge of your hardware.

1. Look in
http://www.linux-laptop.net/

for your Toshiba if anyone managed to get suspend to RAM follow their instructions.

2. Join the mailing lists at:
http://suspend2.net/
