Sound fails after reboot

Good morning, I am having a problem with the sound on my Thinkpad 600e. I have read what seems like a thousand post. I have also googled for a while and can't find the solution to this problem. I am using 9.3 on a TP 600e and can set the sound up using YaST or alsaconf and it works great. When I reboot the sound no longer works. I can do the alsaconf or set up with yast again and it all works again until I reboot. I have had the sound working on this exact same laptop using SuSE 9.2 and did not have a problem. This is driving me nuts and that my friends is a short trip. Can anyone give me some guidence?

I had the same problem when I first installed 10 with KDE. I wasn't much a fan of KDE and switched to Gnome and for some reason, with Gnome, my sound worked after a reboot, my wireless worked consistently and as one would expect it to.

I'm a noob so I don't know if it's all just a coincidence or not. I am running it on a Toshiba M30.

I have some new information concerning my problem. It seems that when the computer restarts the alsa loads before the window manager or is somehow blocked. I have tried KDE and Fluxbox. If I just reboot and don't reinstall alsa and try to use Amarok or Alsaplayer all that I get is white noise. I try and close the player and it closes but very slowly. When I do a shutdown and the window manager closes while the screen is black but before a shutdown, the music player appears on the black screen during the few moments before a complete shutdown. When it appears it is playing whatever music that was suppose to play when I only heard white noise. I sure hope someone can help me with this, I love this little computer and have used it for two or three years almost every day. I would really like to be able to hear music again.
