SLED 10 & Audio CD Burning

A quick question for anyone that's running Suse Linux Enterprise Desktop 10: have you been able to set the machine up so that it will burn an audio cd from mp3's?
I've done everything that I can think of, including re-installing the box (for an unrelated reason), and cannot figure out how to make it do this. I'm currently running K3b ver. 1.0.1 on KDE ver. 3.5.6 (release 85.1). I've used YaST to install the codec package as well. K3b even shows the MAD decoder as installed in the plugin list. But whenever i try to drag&drop an mp3 into the burning pane, it tells me "Unable to handle the following files due to an unsupported format."
I've searched the intahweb, but no dice. Any ideas/suggestions would be most welcome.

P.S. I don't know if this would also tie into the K3b problem, but I am also having trouble getting audio converter software to see their decoder plugins and decode mp3's into anything else. the one in particular that i've tried (having used it successfully at home on an OpenSuSE 10.2 box) is Audacity. It, like K3b, installed without a hitch; but it won't decode.

Thanks,
Iko

yep

Yes, lame is installed. Normalize isn't, but I can't see how that package would have anything to do with decoding files. I've burned tons of cd's with K3b without normalize being installed.
I'm going to download Service Pack 1 tonight and see if that fixes it.
