Removing / uninstalling SuSE 9.1 on computer with dual boot (XP)
Could someone provide detailed instructions on how to remove SuSE 9.1 from my dual boot computer (Windows XP Pro) such that I won't do any permanent damage? From some preliminary googling, I understand that I need to worry about the master boot record... I really have no idea how to do this right. (I think if I were running Windows 98 or 2000, I could just use a DOS/Windows boot disk and run fdisk, but I don't think I can do this in XP.)
Does the SuSE rescue system have an option to remove SuSE properly? If so, can someone walk me through it?
I can't get SuSE 9.1 to recognize my network card, in spite of various attempts (updating kernel, attempting to install patches to 9.1, attempting to install driver for my Broadcom network card, etc). So I'm going to try removing 9.1 and installing 9.2, but I want to make sure I don't make things worse...
TIA

hey...
i hated suse 9.1 and i thought it was for wimps who didn't know command line stuff, so i just formatted my linux hard drive with cfdisk that was on the slackware cd.
I seem to recall in installing 9.1 that I had to specify where I wanted to put a new partition for 9.1 to reside. With 9.2, will I be given the option to use the existing linux partition? If I use it, will it absolutely & certainly overwrite all the existing 9.2 files, or will I be left with some residual, unwanted parts of 9.1 by not having first removed it before installing 9.2?
I have not tried that with 9.2, but it works with 9.1, so I don't see why not.
You will be asked if you want to format the existing partition, and if you do so, all data will be erased. If you want to be sure, do it as I suggested above, delete the partition under XP first.
