Problem installing Synaptic on SuSe 9.0

I get an error message while attempting to install Synaptic ver .53. Failed dependency. libapt-pkg-libc6.3-5.so.0 is needed by synaptic-0.53-rb1. I can't install this version because libapt-pkg-libc6.3-5.so.2 already exists. Has anyone encountered this problem and found a solution? Thanks!

If you downgrade libapt, will that create any dependency problems? If you are using yast to install synaptic then yast can help you work out the dependency issues. If downgrading to libapt-pkg-libc6.3-5.so.0 does not create other dependency problems then that probably is the way to go.
