Try the network install.
Download:
http://mirrors.kernel.org/suse/i386/9.3/boot/boot.iso
Burn it to a cd.
Boot the machine with that cd
Select manual install.
Select to install via ftp.
ftp ip: 204.152.191.7
username: anonymous
password: your email
accept all modules
follow the steps
make any necessary changes or additions
install via ftp.
You will have all the latest, updated versions of everything, and reading the package groups doesn't depend on a cd drive. It is all done via ftp.

I have tried this installation method. It is the full Suse release. Everything is available that is in Suse 9.3 Professional. My favorite package, which will not automatically install, is saint. You have to manually check this one. It sells for about $500.00, but Suse has a deal with the author to include it with the Suse linux distro. It is very good for checking your own security
