problem installing suse linux 9.3

I burn't suse 9.3 to CD and an error came up saying something like, can't read from source. It's kind of odd beacause it boots up and goes into instillation and there is always some problem with the software when I try to install any suse linux, but I don't think that it's the disk. I have a bootable cd of suse linux 9.1 that Im running off of right now and it comes up with a problem in the software section, this is why I don't think it's beacuse of the cd. this bootable disk works perfectly but I don't know why it can't install. but I really would like to get SUSE linux 9.3 to install.

So the error comes up after you have made all your selections and it is starting the install process. I take it does not even finish installing the 1st CD? And the sam is true for 9.1?

Try cleaning you CD/DVD-ROM lens

it doesn't let me install, beacause it has an error under software. it happens on both of my CD drives, and how do you clean the lens. can I just blow compressed air inside the drive.

Try the network install.

Download: http://mirrors.kernel.org/suse/i386/9.3/boot/boot.iso
Burn it to a cd.
Boot the machine with that cd
Select manual install.
Select to install via ftp.
ftp ip: 204.152.191.7
username: anonymous
password: your email
accept all modules
follow the steps
make any necessary changes or additions
install via ftp.
You will have all the latest, updated versions of everything, and reading the package groups doesn't depend on a cd drive. It is all done via ftp.
Someone please copy this reply and post it as sticky. I don't know how.
I have tried this installation method. It is the full Suse release. Everything is available that is in Suse 9.3 Professional. My favorite package, which will not automatically install, is saint. You have to manually check this one. It sells for about $500.00, but Suse has a deal with the author to include it with the Suse linux distro. It is very good for checking your own security

I burnt the CD and went into the menu but when I got to the point after it shows the IP addresses it came up with an error saying an error occuered during network configuration. I was going through a router but I unplugged it and the same error came up.

Sounds like you need a bios reinstall. You can get the utility, and the bios file from your motherboard manufacturers website
