Problem installing 8.33.6 ATI Driver in SUSE 10.2

Hi all,

I recently tried to upgrade my ATI video driver to the latest version. After
following the usual instructions, I got to the part where I typed
'sax2 -r -m 0=fglrx'. My LCD monitor returned the error 'No Signal' and then
went black. I was able to get my GUI back by going into failsafe mode and
selecting the VESA driver (sax2 -r -m 0=vesa). This is only a partial
solution though, as I can't take full advantage of my video board.

The relevant hardware and software specs are as follows:

OS - SUSE 10.2
Video board - ATI X600 256 MB
Driver - ATI 8.33.6
Monitor - Acer AL2216W LCD
X.org version - 7.2 (I upgraded from 7.2rc2)

My SaX.log file is as follows:

Quote:

You're using 32 or 64 bit system? The driver doesn't work under 64 bit :[

Thanks for the info. Yes, I'm using a 64 bit setup (AMD). Hopefully ATI will fix this as the driver is supposed to
support 64 bit systems (see http://ati.amd.com/support/drivers/l...64-radeon.html for details). I used the
ati-driver-installer-8.33.6-x86.x86_64.run file when I installed the driver.
