pro 8.1 installation hangs on "Moving into tmpfs..."

Moving...? Not really more like stopped! After experimenting with RedHat for a while I tried to re-install my Suse pro 8.1 (partitions were not changed). It now hangs up with a kernel panic after hanging up on "Moving into tmpfs..." I'm sure I'm not the first one to screw up a good installation, but I haven't found any comments here on what triggers this panic or how to fix it.

RedFaced...

Sounds like a memory problem. Either some memory is defective or you don't have enough to contain the ramdisk.

I haven't really had enough experience with linux to even be considered a newbie, but I had the same problem loading suse 8.2 on my asus/nvidia board. I installed using the "safe settings" options and suse loaded easily. I thought it was kind of weird because 8.2 loads with no gripes on my old hewlett packard machine. It's great to finally see a SuSE forum..

Angry

Have 32MB RAM;
Ran Memtest-86 v3.0 overnight: no errors
Safe settings made no difference (but thanks for the idea)

Still comes up with:

..._alloc_pages: 0-order allocation failed (gfp=0x1d2/0)

Where's my 12-gauge pump?

Problem solved (no thanx to Memtest-86). Replaced all memory chips. Installs just fine now. Thanks for the pointers.
