partitioning tool backend on installer?

Hello,

I was just wondering if anyone here knows what back-end program SUSE uses to do the partitioning on the installer?

I'm curious because I discovered that it was able to install LILO to the boot sector of an active extended partition for a dual-boot configuration, and Slackware wasn't able to do this, no matter how I configured and installed Slackware, though after running the installer for Suse with a minimal install, I was then able to get Slackware to use those partitions and install LILO exactly where I wanted it. I'd like to know what goes on in the install process of SUSE that allows this, but haven't come up with any info.

Thanks

AFAIK it's parted. At least that's what they used in 9.1.
