order of services booting

Hello,

Please, help to set order of starting the boot's services.

I thought they start alphabetically, but was not right
YAST seems not to have possibility to set the order (in Runlevel editor)

Thanks a lot

Technically, the order is determined by the number of the respective script in /etc/init.d/rc<runlevel>.d

I think that YaST creates this order by reading the init-info:
Code:
### BEGIN INIT INFO
# Provides: cron
# Required-Start: $remote_fs $syslog $time
# X-UnitedLinux-Should-Start: sendmail postfix
# Required-Stop: $remote_fs $syslog
# Default-Start: 2 3 5
# Default-Stop: 0 1 6
# Description: Cron job service
### END INIT INFO
If a certain service is required (see 'Required-Start'), the scipt will get a higher number than that of the required service.

I'm sorry, it seems I asked incorrectly.

But I found an answer in /etc/init.d/README (funny?

"...To control the order of service starts and stops, the
start and stop links include a number in their link name..."

So they start in order S01aaa, S02bbb,... and are killed in order K01bbb, K02bbbb

Thanks

Wasn't this what I said in the previous post?

You asked how to influence this order. Yes, you can change the number of the respective script manually, but then you do not take into account the prerequisites of a certain script. This is done by YaST automatically. Keep this in mind when you apply manual changes.
