Open Suse 11, hamachi VNC

I am trying to use my desktop to control my laptop using hamachi/vnc. I can use my laptop (ubuntu) to control another ubuntu laptop via hamachi, but it won't work with my desktop.

What I do:
>right click on the machine I wish to control.
>select vnc...

Nothing.

On the suse box I have hamachi running. I have ghamachi on the desktop showing the other machines in the vpn, and it shows me that I am connected. I have vnc-viewer as my client, and on the laptop end I have vinagre as the client/viewer.

any ideas about what to try next?
