Nomachine nxclient error: Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused

Merry Christmas All,

Very recently I did a new install of openSUSE 11.1 x86_64; prior versions worked fine with Nomachine worked fine.

Now after doing an install of Nomachine, nxclient does not even open to display. Running it from the terminal, it returns this error:

/**
linux-0urx:/usr/NX/home/nx # /usr/NX/bin/nxclient
Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: No protocol specified

nxclient: cannot connect to X server :0.0
linux-0urx:/usr/NX/home/nx #
**/

I am using nomachine version: nxclient-3.3.0-3.i386.rpm
Any ideas on how to fix this?

Thanks in advance. Peace.

try running the client from an account other than root, root does not have the env variables to run an x app.

Sorry, just noticed that you installed nxclient-3.3.0-3.i386.rpm

Try installing the x86_64 version....

dave2day,

Thank You!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can you/will you explain *why* "xhost +" is now needed (wasn't in 11.0)?

Best Regards

Smile better yet, here's the answer.

Now that I'm actually using 32bit OS11.1, you can fix NOmachine using my build notes. "Yes I have SSHD on port 3300 these days "

1. configure SSHD
# vi /etc/ssh/sshd_config
Port 3300
add port 3300 in YaST/Security/Firewall/Advanced=TCP 3300.
# service sshd restart
# netstat -lntp

2. install nomachine.
# sudo rpm -i nxclient-3.3.0-6.i386.rpm
# sudo rpm -i nxnode-3.3.0-12.i386.rpm
# sudo rpm -i nxserver-3.3.0-15.i386.rpm
3. configure nomachine.
# vi /usr/NX/etc/server.cfg
SSHDPort = "3300"
SSHDAuthPort = "3300"
# /etc/init.d/nxserver restart

Everything works, no problem.
