No driver support for the onboard sound

My mainboard is Asus M2N8VMX. According to the user-guide, my onboard sound is Azalia ALC883-GR High Definition Audio 6-channel codec.

# lspci|grep -i audio
give the following result,
00:05.0 Audio device: nVidia Corporation MCP61 High Definition Audio (rev a2)

I cannot find an appropriate driver. Can anyone help?

A quick google search didn't turn up any results for a linux driver. Many sound cards, especially onboards, just do not have linux drivers. Sorry, but you might be screwed. This is why I often 'liberate' old sound cards in computers that are going to be trashed.

I have the same audio chipset and all I did to get the sound to work
was to install ALSA 1.0.4rc4 from source.

I think that will fix your problem.
