When I was first trying to get my wireless card in Suse 9.1 Personal, I was surprised to see it had no GCC installed. I went to this site ftp://mirror.mcs.anl.gov/pub/suse/i386/9.1/suse/i586/ and downloaded the GCC package(s) manually. Then downloaded ndiswrapper .09 (.10 seemed to have problems with the USB modules) and it has all the instructions in the readme on how to get your wireless network card up and running.

9.1 Personal is missing a lot of development aps, like make. You can however download what you need from "http://suse.osuosl.org/suse/i386/9.1/suse/i586/", make has an RPM. Frequently you will find you have the correct library to run but not to compile and build. Most aps have multiple RPMs and the one you might need will have "-devel" in the name.

rigmarol:

you don't need gcc. use yast to install ndiswrapper and then use ndiswrapper to intall the driver. Then configure the interface with yast. then "up" the wlan0 device.

note on yast installed software: if you installed from the cd you may want to change the install source to see all of the packages. I added a one of the suse ftp mirrors so I don't need the cd or have to download manually.
