Hello All
I've download some suse rpms and when i double click on them to openm them, it asks if i would like to intsall them through yast. I click "install through yast" . It won't intsall, anyone know where i can find instructions on installing through yast? I've added the directory as one of my source locations. Any help appreciated.

Can you right-click on an RPM in KDE and select Actions > Install With Yast?

Or you can open a terminal, su to root, and cd to the location of the files, then issue a command like:

# yast -i <name of rpm>

Please provide the names of those rpm's. One of the most commen mistakes is the attempt to install src.rpm packages. This will not work with Yast (and they do not contain any binaries). Try to find equivalent ix86.rpm's.

To add the directory to the Yast sources probably won't work and may cause the Yast software installation module to fail totally. Delete this source and try again by clicking.

Hi
Thanks for the replies. Xian i did what you suggested and it worked on the limewire rpm, but in yast there was a couple of dependency problems. It was asking for jr2e, so i did a search and it yielded no results. Dou you have any ideas?
Thanks

Hmmm....sounds like it might be asking you to install a java RPM. There is one in the 9.1 base package called java2-jre-1.4.2-129.i586.rpm. What SuSE version are you using? Open YaST and do a search for "java", then install the ones that appear to be similar in nomenclature.
