How to find Bittorent Seed for SUSE10

I've tried to access for the pass days, the official SUSE ftp server (http://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/10.0/iso/) but is not able to get through.

Any idea how I could get hold of the Bittorrent ".torrent file" for SUSE 10 Evaluation Version?

Hello!

Try this server:

ftp://ftp.rz.uni-ulm.de/pub/suse/i386/10.0/iso/

ftp://ftp.belnet.be/linux/opensuse/d...n/SL-10.0-OSS/

ftp://ftp-stud.fht-esslingen.de/pub/...i386/10.0/iso/

Greetings

Torrents only seem to be available for the OSS version. Get the Eval version from a mirror: see http://www.novell.com/products/susel...ions_eval.html to find your nearest one.

There is a torrent for the Pro distribution on Piratebay but it's mostly leechers. As soon as my DVD comes in I will be ripping it and (after verifying the EULA and license.txt allow it) will post it but if people don't help seed it after downloading I will be yanking the torrent. If you use bittorrent to grab your distro, you ought to help others and share as well.

I just received the DVD but will be going away for a day or two (I NEED a day off!) so it will be a few days before I upgrade then rip the DVD, but here goes.

From the license.txt:

RIGHTS AND LICENSES

This Novell Software License Agreement ("Agreement") is a legal
agreement between You (an entity or a person) and Novell, Inc.
("Novell") with respect to the software product identified in the
title of this Agreement, media (if any) and accompanying documentation
(collectively the "Software").

The Software is a collective work of Novell. You may make and use
unlimited copies of the Software for Your distribution and use within
Your Organization. You may make and distribute unlimited copies of
the Software outside Your organization provided that: 1) You receive
no consideration; and, 2) you do not bundle or combine the Software
with another offering (e.g., software, hardware, or service). The
term "Organization" means a legal entity, excluding subsidiaries and
affiliates with a separate existence for tax purposes or for legal
personality purposes. An example of an Organization in the private
sector would be a corporation, partnership, or trust, excluding any
subsidiaries or affiliates of the organization with a separate tax
identification number or company registration number. In the public
sector, an example of Organization would be a specific government
body or local government authority.

The Software is a modular operating system. Most of the components
are open source packages, developed independently, and accompanied by
separate license terms. Your license rights with respect to
individual components accompanied by separate license terms are
defined by those terms; nothing in this Agreement (including, for
example, the "Other License Terms and Restrictions," below) shall
restrict, limit, or otherwise affect any rights or obligations You may
have, or conditions to which You may be subject, under such license
terms.

While the license terms for a component may authorize You to
distribute the component, You may not use any Novell marks (e.g., SUSE
and SUSE LINUX) in distributing the component, whether or not the
component contains Novell marks.

I'll be wiping / on my box this weekend and doing a clean install of 10 (why? I want a clean install. I've installed other packages manually without running checkinstall to track them) but after that I will be ripping the DVD and posting a torrent. The DVD is dual layer so to burn it to a DVD you will need a dual-layer drive as the CD is 8GB. I will not be ripping the 5-CD set as many torrents for it already exist. If everyone leeches instead of allowing uploads I will be yanking the torrent, as a) it will be painfully slow for all b) leeching defeats the purpose of bittorrent and c) I can't afford everyone's hogging my bandwidth. The connection will be throttled to 64KB/s or 48KB/s during the day and will be much higher outside business hours. Initially to get others seeding I will set the connection limit to 3 users, otherwise nobody's download will ever complete. Once others are seeding as well I will increase the number of allowed connections.
