help with IPW2100 setup / install in 9.2

I have a Toshiba M35-S359 which has the Intel Wireless Pro B mini pci card. I've recently installed SuSE 9.2 on the laptop. I got all of the available updates from YaST. Everything works fine with the exception of the wireless. Through tutorials and googling I've been able to get a list of access points from the command line... but I've been unable to get the connection to grab an ip address. So I can get a list of ESSID's, but can't ping my router or other computers on my network. I've tried manually assigning an IP, but no luck there either.

My router is configured for DHCP, and so is the eth1 connection (wireless). When I do "ifup eth1" it brings the connection up... but doesn't aquire an address. Doing the same command but refering to my wired connection (eth0) brings up my wired ethernet, and aquires an address.

I'm not sure where I'm going wrong, and can't seem to find a good tutorial / guide. The FAQ on SF's ip2100 area hasn't helped me, nor have any other faq / tutorials.

If anyone can offer any information, a point in the right direction, or some questions for me to answer to get this solved, it'd be greatly appreciated.

thanks in advance.

type iwconfig to see if your wireless settings are correct. That might prevent the DCHP service from sending the IP.

if up only bring up or activates the network card. type dhcpcp eth1 to obtain the IP from the DHCP server

dhcpcp returns no command found... i tried just "dhcp eth1" just in case it was a typo... same thing. Command not found.

When I try ifconfig this is what I get...

linux:/home/optik # ifconfig

Ok, I could have sworn I installed the drivers.... but upon trying to re-install them just to eliminate problems I got this error:

linux:/home/optik/Downloads/ipw2100-1.0.5/ipw2100-1.0.5 # make
make -C /lib/modules/2.6.8-24.11-default/build SUBDIRS=/home/optik/Downloads/ipw2100-1.0.5/ipw2100-1.0.5 MODVERDIR=/home/optik/Downloads/ipw2100-1.0.5/ipw2100-1.0.5 modules
make[1]: Entering directory `/usr/src/linux-2.6.8-24.11-obj/i386/default'
make[1]: *** No rule to make target `modules'. Stop.
make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/linux-2.6.8-24.11-obj/i386/default'
make: *** [modules] Error 2
linux:/home/optik/Downloads/ipw2100-1.0.5/ipw2100-1.0.5 #

so the make failed... can anyone offer any ideas?

I said iWconfig not ifconfig. I wanted to know if the ESSID and wep were input and if those were preventing communication with the router. I don't its going to help from the output i'm looking at

you had an IP of 192.168.1.104. Did you set that manually or something?
