French Canadian Keyboard missing in SuSE 10

Hi every body.

In SuSE 10.0 the configuration in SaX2 for the French Canadian keyboard is missing.

To make it work, i copyed all the files from directory "xkb" and all it's sub-directory from a SuSE 9.3 system.

/etc/X11/xkb

I then lunch SaX2 and selected the French Canada keyboard and that did it.

On a second computer it did not work right away. I had to reinstall the rpm: suse/noarch/xkeyboard-config-0.6-3.noarch.rpm (found in SuSE 10.0 cd 1) to get back to original and recopyed my SuSE 9.3 "xkb" directory and it then work.

As i was trying to config the second computer, i notice that the file "ca_enhanced" was missing from the original SuSE 10.0 "etc/X11/xkb/symbols" directory and in the file "etc/X11/xkb/rules/xorg.lst" the line "ca_enhanced French Canadian" is also missing.

I also think that the "ca_enhanced(Sundeadkeys)" file is missing but i did not find it anywhere in the SuSE 9.3 xkb directory.

Here is the file "etc/X11/xkb/symbols/ca_enhanced" if that can help somebody.

Hi Frank!

I found this other simple solution on a french forum and it worked for me:

1- KDE -> Regional & Accessibility -> Keyboard layout -> add Canada (ca)
2- Choose the "fr" layout variant (Command = 'setxkbmap -model pc105 -layout ca -variant fr')
3- Edit this file "/etc/X11/xkb/rules/base" as root and change:

$pcmodels ca = pc(%m)+ca(multi)+ca(multi-2gr):2+group(rctrl_switch)

for

$pcmodels ca = pc(%m)+ca(fr)+ca(multi-2gr):2+group(rctrl_switch)

4- Repeat step 2 and click "Apply"

Hope this helps!

Christian
