Thumbs up forgot root password:- Suse Linux 10.00

Hello everybody,
Althogh not a complete newbie, I have managed to forget/lose? my root password for Suse 10.00.
I am studying the command line using the Suse Bible and have looked up man files and websites to no avail, as yet. If anyone can help it would be a great service. I am a hobbyist who has lost some faith with Bill G..
Note: Ihave reinstalled from the dvd(dual boot with XP) but it does not work for me.
