Unhappy Can't find directory for DVD player.

Hi,

I can't find the directory for my CD/DVD player. I'm running SLED 10.1 on a Lenovo ThinkPad T61. I've installed MPlayer with all of the proper codecs and a GUI, but I can't get it to play anything because I have no idea where to tell it to look for the DVD. /dev/dvd doesn't exist, it won't work with /dev/hda or /dev/sda, and there's nothing in /mnt. The DVD icon is on the desktop, named; the box knows it's there but won't play it. I've been trying to find it for days; just trying to watch a movie.

I've already tried to get Totem to play DVDs and gave up because I've installed all of the plugins and Totem can't find them.

Thoughts? Advice?

Try this. Start MPlayer. Right click on the MPlayer window.

Choose the dvd option.

Have you installed libdvdcss?

No dice there, it gives me an error message saying "No stream found to handle url dvd://1"

libdvdcss is installed, it's in /usr/local/lib. Could that location be causing a problem?

Mine is in /usr/lib. Maybe you need to use the rpm from videolan.org.

http://download.videolan.org/pub/vid...uSE/11.0/i686/

The version I have installed is 1.2.10-3.1.

Edit: Just noticed that your using SLED 10.1. Maybe you ought to look for the version of libdvdcss for that distro. The link I provided was for openSUSE 11.0. Might work, might not.
