I have bought every release of SuSE Pro, full or upgrade, since I have been using linux.
But this time I am not very motivated to do so: 9.1 and 9.2 look like twin brothers, from what I have seen.
And besides 9.1 is eventually stable, after months of updates and bugfixes. I don't feel like starting all over again.

I agree totally! I have no problem supporting a company that puts out a great product.

SuSE

I've tried them all, and really SuSE 9.1 is amazing --simply the best. May need some tweaking, but overall a great free flavor of Linux.

I think I will actually purchase SuSE 9.2 when it comes out. I tried to pre order using the student link on Novell's site, but it doesn't seem to work. Anyone else try?

I saw a live demo of Suse 9.2 at the recent LinuxWorld Expo in London and I was really impressed, I am thinking of migrating my desktops to it. It just looked really slick and professional.

i've downloaded mandrake and suse. i'm just getting into this and i don't feel like spending a lot of money (ok it's cheap compared to windblows but still alot of money for a simple student) on something that might not be the thing for me. So far i like what i've seen though and after a while when i have some more experience and dump M$ completely i'm definitly gonna buy it. To support novell/suse and for the nice box, dvd's and the manuals

My opinion is that if you try it, and it works with your system, and you plan to use it for a long time, then you should if you are financially capable.

onelung02,

What does that mean? Have you ever been behind the Iron Curtain, come for Cuba? Been ravaged by war, ethnic cleansing? Had family killed in any of the wars in -- let's say -- the last 2,000 years?

Tell us more. Linux is about Free Choice.

I'll buy mine. But, there are those that can't. I thought that whole community was about Freedom of Choice.

I have already purchased 9.2 and am happily running it. If you use open source you should support it.

I have just FTP downloaded my first SuSe and I'm liking it a lot. I am not financially able to purchase it at the moment, though. I wish I was, and in the future I may be able to contribute financially. But, I like that they distrubite it for free.

BUY BUY BUY. HAHA. I would for sure buy the next suse release. Reasons: A. You will be helping out Novell, so they can keep putting out amazing distros. B. You get Pro when you buy, unless of course you want to steal it from some download site. And if you do get pro without paying for it, you might as well just spit in Linus' face, you communist. LoL, enjoy.
What a pathetically stupid thing to say. I suppose the whole Debian community spits in Linus' face then hey? Oh, damn, people who use Ubuntu are a bunch of commie trators. You know, Linus charges for Linux, but these people are stealing it and therefore are spitting in his face . No, there is no way it could be that Linus himself chose for people to be able to download and use Linux for free. Also, what difference is there between downloading pro or personal....both include the same amount of code from Linus. You know, I think this all boils down to the fact that you are a complete moron.
Oh, and my aunt bought it. I don't use SUSE...I just thought this was an interesting post.

Sorry, just have to add this....if Linus didn't allow people to download the source-code for free...none of us would be using Linux. He probably wouldn't have touched it in years if he didn't open source it.

Never mind the fact that you are not paying for any of Linus' accomplishments when you buy Pro...you are paying for addons Novell provides and a nice set of manuals. Please use your brain (if you have one) before posting in the future.

Same here. As long as I can get my wifi working, I will buy it in January.
