No one can answer that until you specify your hardware, your video card, the driver you are using, the distro you have installed (10.2 is certainly not sufficient, though it suggests mandriva to me), and what rendering engine you are using.

edit: I see this is the SUSE board, though it appeared at the top level in the forums list. I suppose that means you are using SUSE 10.2.

Raynus,

I could not run Compiz in my system. In my case the problem is the video card. ATI proprietary drivers are very buggy under linux. Most of the user that run beryl all the time use nvidia. As soon as I know that the driver for the new generation nvidias 8800 are running well under linux I will do the jump. Until then I continue with 2D desktop :-(
In summary the problem may be related to your video adapter. I know some users report decent results with the ATI. For me it was not the solution. Also I have mythtv and it did not work well with compiz either.

theres a problem with the latest kernel update if you ask me. Before by 945GM graphics card in my laptop worked fine with 3d enabled and xgl and compiz.

since the update sax screwed up and whilst xgl continued to work i started getting black bands around windows and stuff so i had to reload and not use xgl. Without xgl it works fine.
