Hi,
I have installed opensuse 10.3 on my (P4 1.7G/512MB RAM/Radeon 7000 32M video RAM) machine. Also I have azureus installed from one of the repositories. The problem is each time I tried to start azureus 3, it opens up loads some/all plugns and immediatly gets terminated/crashed.
Here's the log it spitted out:

Can anyone help me find what's going wrong? Also I have JDK 1.6 installed and java is in my PATH.
It appears somewhat difficult to tell, as there don't appear to be any errors within the log file itself. Can you run Azureus as root? Perhaps it is a permissions issue that is preventing you from starting Azureus as a normal user.
Just out of curiosity, I looked at your laptop specs and they appear similar to that of my own. This doesn't happen to be a Gatway 450SX4 that you are using, does it? I am planning on installing openSuSE 10.3 on my laptop, and would like to know of any problems (other than your Azureus issue) that you may have faced for installation, configuration, etc. Sorry to be off-topic, but I would like to know. Thanks.

Hi,
Thanks for your reply. It sure seems to be a permission issue coz when I ran azureus as root user it ran perfectly fine and when I ran it as normal user I am getting the error below.
What do you think is the problem? Also I 've disabled the firewall before running azureus as root user. I don't want to run it as root user as it may pose some security problems.
By the way I have installed opensuse 10.3 on my old HP-Vectra 420 desktop and not on a laptop. I've gone for the network installation as the whole process went smoothly without any problems.
Yes, you most likely would not want to run this program with root privileges. If root can run Azureus, however, then it does appear to be a permissions issue. I'm just wondering if normal users on your system are not allowed to execute java-related functions, due to security. One item that I could think of would be to see whether users can execute the java virtual machine binary in the /usr/java/latest/bin/java directory from your log. Also, perhaps the Azureus directory needs write permissions enabled for normal users for some reason or another. Just a few ideas for you. I have had problems myself in the past in tracking down permissions-related issues within Linux, sometimes just giving full permissions by typing "chmod 777" for certain folders (not recommended) just to resolve the issue.
Your HP's specs seem to be similar to that of my 450SX4 laptop. I am planning on an openSuSE 10.3 installation very soon on this laptop, and was curious as to how it may fare once loaded with this Linux distro. I suppose I'll find out shortly on my own .
