Angry 100 Euros for a Distro with sound problems??? !!!

I have paid (because I thought that this was a kind of support to all those who try to beat Microsoft) almost 100 Euros to get SuSE 9.3 Professional and I can't hear a bloody thing!

The system recognises my sound card. When KDE starts a get the welcome sound with lots of hick-ups and I get no sound at all from any audio CD or an MP3 file.

I had no such problems with my previous 9.1 personal edition of SuSE and I'm really pissed off to pay money and buy problematic OS!

Any help or advise before I return to Microsoft?

What sound card do you have?

What kernel are you using?

What sound system are you using?

What sound applications are you using?

The pro version should entitle you to support from Novell.

If you use mplayer from a terminal, what output do you get:
mplayer /path/to/file.mp3

Have you downloaded the multimedia files from YOU to enable playing mp3s? They are not included on the CDs/DVD due to some issues.

Two things to try as well as Creative cards sometimes tend to be finicky.

1) Try using another driver
2) Try Moving your sound card to another PCI slot
