question about wlan devices in suse

I am considering switching distributions from fedora to suse. The main reason why I am considering switching is because of my wlan device (Netgear WG311T) is not communicating with the router.

Anyway, I looked up wlan devices in the Administrator's Guide for Suse 9.2 and it said that the chipset (Athros 5212) for my card is supported. What I would like to know is:

What does supported mean? Is it found at install or do I need a seperate driver for the card?

thanks,

Hockeyfan

I have a Netgear WG511T which uses an Atheros chip. Upgrading from SuSE 9.0 to 9.1, it detected my card and installed the appropriate driver. Just pay attention to your firewall settings; otherwise using this card works just fine.

Before you switch for good, I'd tell you to try downloading the madwifi drivers first http://madwifi.sf.net and try to get it to work that way. SuSE uses those drivers for my card.

Good luck.
