Hi,
I recently installed SUSE Linux 10 and everything is going well, except for that my Connexant Modem is not working. There is a site dedicated for this modem's support for Linux (www.linuxant.com). They have many packages (rpm) for various distros and SUSE, but only up to 9.3 (not for 10). So I tried to isntall their generic TAR package with numerous failed dependencies. I resolved those dependencies and then it complained about the Kernel or something. So I'd just like to know whether there is any precompiled rpm for SUSE 10 that would allow me to install this software without all these hassles.
Ofcourse, if any of you have been able to install this driver on SUSE Linux 10 with the TAR packages, an explanation on how to do this would be greatly, greatly appreciated!!
Thank you.
I have installed many rpms listed for SuSE 9.3 and recieved full functionality, as have many others on these forums. You can even install rpms compiled for Fedora builds... Very odd thing, if you ask me. Anywho, no core build doesn't really seem to matter, so long as you meet the requirements of the rpm install, which is why it helps to have a connection to the net while you do it, and do it though the server so you can install all the other things you will need to go along with it and meet those requirements.
Yes, a connection to the net would be great, but what I'm trying to get to work is a modem
Anyways, I tried it, but it says to choose the package that supports the Kernel I have...it doesn't work...I'll try some Fedora Core ones, but in the meantime, is there a way I can "downgrade" a Kernel so that this modem driver will be supported?
