help installing nforce drivers; precompiled kernel??

hi i just installed slackware 10

i am trying to install the nforce drivers for my motherboard: msi k7n2delta
i downloaded and ran the driver, but it gave me an error.
first it told me there was no precompiled kernel.
and then:
gcc-version-check failed
./nvsound/main/conftest/.sh: line1: cc: command not found
could not compile gcc-version-check.c
set the environment variable to name of compiler used to compile kernel.

i am using the 2.6 kernel... i am new to messing about with linux and am switching to slackware from mandrake so i can learn more.

what do i need to do? i want internet and sound to work in linux, i know it's possible.

if your in bash, make a new file in your home dir and but this in it

Code:
export CC=gcc
this is also fairly generic and will work with zsh, csh, tcsh etc.

edit: Almost forgot, BEFORE installing the nforce drivers, do rmmod forcedeath as root. this way it will allow you to install the nvidia net drivers.

Nvidia Drivers

hey predator.hawk wazzup man

See you got your nvidia display to work. I have the MSI K7N2 Delta 2 board with Geforce fx 5700LE 256ram but when i downloaded and installed nvidia drivers, X would crash and had to switch bach to vesa instead of nvidia in Xconfig. last thing i found was to change the assign irq to vga in bios to enable, sad thing is i don't have that on my mobo. anythoughts and could you email me your xconfig file and what you did or post it here. thanks man be a big help. right now i have mandrake 10 power something official so it has an nvidia kernel and thats how i got the sound and net card working fine, but that card don't want to work, even with the included nv drivers. here is the config

Athlon XP 3200+
MSI K7N2 Delta 2 / Asus A7N8x Deluxe ( will run this board when i save up for some crucial ram )
1.5gb ram kingston ram
segate sata 160GB
8x TDK dvd-r
asus 52x cd
water cooled using big block.
