multimedia codecs

Hello, I am trying out SuSe version:

Linux linux-7jhc 2.6.31.12-0.1-desktop #1 SMP PREEMPT 2010-01-27 08:20:11 +0100 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

I now find the system is asking me to multimedia codecs whenever I want to play mp3 or view mpegs.

Before I switch to another distro I like to know if there are any work arounds?

Many thanks.

http://opensuse-community.org/Multimedia should help. Please, read carefully the notes about restricted formats. Also you may want to add Packman to the software repositories (if not already done) since it provides a lot of multimedia applications, among other well-packaged stuff.
