Help on multimedia codecs in RHEL 5

I installed Red Hat Enterprise Linux Version 5 on my computer. I request somebody in the know of things to help me how to install multi media codecs and install programs like xmms, vlc, mplayer so that I can play mp3's etc. and watch movies

The URL refered to in the reply is meant for Fedora distros. I want help in case of RHEL 5.

RHEL is based on Fedora so those instructions should be relevant. Another option is to add dag's repo to your yum sources.
