Firewire/USB 2.0 Suse 9.3

I have just installed Suse 9.3 on my old Dell - 1.7GHz, 2xHDD (160GB, 40GB), 1GB RAM. I didn't have a Firewire connection in that machine so I installed a PCI Firewire/USB 2.0 card. One of the main reasons was because I have an iPod and wanted to access it over Firewire.

When I plug the iPod into one of the card USB slots nothing happens. If I plug it onto the USB connector of the mother board then the iPod is recognised immediately.

How can I get hte Firewire and the new USB 2.0 connections to be recognised. I would like to use the faster connections rather than the "slower" USB 1.1.

Do you have the ehci-hcd module loaded. run ' lsmod | grep ehci-hcd '. If not there load it as ' modprobe ehci-hcd '

Lets try that first.

The module is loaded, at least it is listed as "ehci-hcd 0".

Um, what is it and what does it do and what do I do now?
