Amarok 1.4.10 and 2.0 not playing mp3s - with restricted formats package installed.

Hello,
I've recently installed openSUSE 11.1. Ever since the restricted format one-clicks appeared, I've used them to get all my multimedia up and running. So, after getting 11.1 set-up, I've downloaded the codecs-kde.ymp and installed the whole package, which always allowed me to play everything I wanted. I've also installed Amarok 2.0 from the repo - and wanted to play some mp3s. But Amarok 2.0 doesn't let me add them to the playlist with xine as the backend, and with gstreamer - it doesn't play them, even though they're in the playlist. As for Amarok 1.4.10 (from the amarok-packman package) - it says that the xine engine isn't able to play the files, and with yauap - the sound quality is just horrible. I've tried reinstalling, removing, purging, updating the packages - nothing helps. I've installed mp3blaster as a temporary replacement, but I'd really love to return to Amarok (which, from 2.0, I love even more). Does anyone have any ideas? On Kubuntu 8.10 everything worked well, but I don't want to get back to it - I prefer openSUSE much more.

I understand that you've had success before with the one click method, but it sounds like you need to verify some specific packages to make sure you have everything you need.

Open the YaST software install tool and verify that you have the libxine1 version from packman installed. This pkg has the .pm extension in the file name.

Then verify that you have phonon-backend-xine and libxine1-pulse.

Oh, wow. It seems one of the packages was from another repo - and now, after selecting all from the same source - I'm listening to Dire Straits back again :-D Though I thought YAST should figure it by itself - as far as I remember, it always asked, if I want to change vendor, when I changed some packages.
But problem solved, thank you very much. Now I'm only waiting for the ATI 11.1 repo to be up and running - and welcome back, openSUSE ;-)
