A question to any one experienced with Ubuntu 5.10.

I am new to Linux and have little to no experience with code.

I have installed Ubuntu on two computers for my kids and on the whole find it to be a very good operating system. However, 'out of the box' it doesn't like mpeg, dvd playback etc...

Research on the Ubuntu WIKI, gave me instructions on how to install the required codecs to overcome this, but I have had mixed results.

Music playback is now fine on both, but video playbakc on Firefox is very bad, and DVD is still not correct. I have followed the instructions to no avail.

Does anyone have a simple way of setting this up?

I know their are at least 2 programs that make it easy but I can only think of one right now. It's called automatix. It has a nice gui interface to download things like that.
