User IDs

Hi all,

I want to know if i apply RETRIES=3 in /etc/default/login which will affect all user ids, how do i customize so that specific user ids like root will not be affected by this ? This is for Solaris 6. Thanks

Solaris 6 ?? There is no such thing (Solaris versions jumped from 2.6 to 7).

If you are using Solaris 10, then this is doable:

Yeah, if you are running an older version of solaris, then it's always better to upgrade.

I just wanted to make sure whether this parameter RETRIES=3 affects all user including root and is there any way around it if it is not on Solaris 10 ?

I believe it affects root too, there is no workaround I'm aware of besides using Solaris 10 and up.
