SATA discs = trouble??

I heard that SATA discs is not really supported by Solaris. Does anyone know more about this issue? I can not just buy 3 Barracuda drives and hope it will work with a intel core duo 6600?

This is no more true starting from Solaris 10 update 2 (6/06) and its native SATA framework for x86.
As a matter of fact, Sun's own X2100 systems are SATA based and Sun's X4500 embed 48 SATA drives.

Yep, assuming your SATA controller is supported (Marvell 88SX60xx, Marvell 88SX50xx, and Silicon Image 3124 chipsets).

I have a socket F amd board and had to use Solaris 10 11/06 release. The 06/06 would install on my sata drive, but would only boot to recovery console.

11/06 has worked great with no probs at all!
