confusion about device names


I know this may be so evident for some of you but I haven`t understood yet why are relationed the physical name and logical name in Solaris. i mean...

/dev/dsk/c1t3d0 = /pci@1f,0/pci@1/scsi@1/sd@3,0

Why these are the same? A brief explanation would be really apreciated.
