Cannot upgrade to SXDE 1/08 from SXDE 9/07

Hi.

Despite, for example this: http://developers.sun.com/sxde/upgrade_guide.jsp, indicates that I should be able to upgrade to SXDE 1/08 from 9/07, the upgrade option is disabled when I boot from the DVD (and choose the new installer). The system I'm running is a vanilla SXDE 9/07, with a native zone and some blastwave package.

Have you got any hint about troubleshooting this?

FYI, I could not overcome this problem and I had to fully reinstall. The SXDE installer was failing because "/var could not be mounted", which is pretty strange: system was fully functional and had been installed from SXDE 9/07 DVD choosing the "Use entire disk" option.
